The cartouche is the oval that ancient Egyptian scribes drew around a royal name to protect it. Here a blooming lotus crowns the top of the oval and a fine border of hieroglyphs runs around the frame, so the name sits inside a frame within a frame. The background is darkened to bring the signs forward. Photographed with the sample name QUEEN.

Every Jasperade piece is made by hand in a small silversmith workshop in Cairo: cut, engraved, oxidized and finished without casting or machine work, so no two pieces are quite identical. We make each piece after you order it.
CARE
Sterling silver naturally darkens over time. Wipe with a soft polishing cloth and store it away from perfume, chlorine and prolonged contact with water. Blackened (oxidized) details are intentional and should not be polished off.

Order today and it leaves Cairo within 3 to 5 working days, tracked to your door. Delivery times by region are on our shipping page. Unworn, non-personalized pieces may be returned within 30 days; engraved pieces are exchanged only if faulty.
